This outfit makes me feel like a 1970s superhero, and so does “I Am.”

Hearing Earth, Wind & Fire for the first time was feeling pure joy for the first time. The group’s music carries with it a sense of untainted happiness that you can’t duplicate.

The same group responsible for cheerful numbers “September” and “Sing a Song” is responsible for a collection of other equally joyful songs. This album is only the beginning.

“I Am” is a great place to introduce yourself to the group’s music and feel uplifted at the same time. Not every song is happy, such as “After the Love has Gone,” but the band only brings you down to lift you back up.

And, what about that album cover? Seriously, it’s epic.

The burst of light peaking through the pillars is as statuesque as this skirt.

The bright, vertical-striped skirt couldn’t fit an album any better. I am obsessed.

The suede skirt is a statement piece that you can wear every summer and spring for many years. I completed the outfit with a soft white tank top and tan platform heels.

The 1979 album is most likely known for “Boogie Wonderland,” but I find “In the Stone” worthy of a single. None of the horn-driven songs will disappoint.

If you’re looking for a bit of R&B mixed with funk, Earth, Wind & Fire will always come through.

I like this album particularly because it promotes empowerment through love, as if you can’t have one without the other.

I found that love provides the key/

Unlocks the heart and souls of you and me

It may sound cheesy but, for me, Earth, Wind & Fire connects more than natural elements. It connects joy, power and love.

If the messages don’t sway you, let the horns do the heavy lifting. The riff at the end of “After the Love has Gone” will leave you convinced of something.
