5 things I fell back in love with this summer

Before colorful leaves trickle down, I’d like to take a quick sec to reminisce about summer 2017, just a sec.
This summer renewed my fondness for many things, but I wanted to share a few in hopes it will inspire you, too. Here are five things I fell back in love with this summer.
1. My body
If you read my post about body image, you will realize I learned a thing or two about how to appreciate what I have. This summer, I made an effort to go to the gym nearly everyday on my lunch break, eat healthier in every meal and feel more satisfied with my physical imperfections.
Science. Is it real? Hahaha … Is that even a question? I have a degree in biology, and this summer reminded my why I got it. With all this heated talk about climate change, fake news and now hurricanes, I’ve realized just how important the subject is to the world. Is healthcare reporting in my future? That is a strong possibility.
Science is real, people!
3. Space buns
Watching the space buns hairstyle become popular again was a blast from the past. I love seeing models walk the runway with the same space buns I wore playing soccer when I was 6. My mother would wrap my hair in these two Princess Leia buns before every game, and I was just happy to have it out of my face so I could ball. Wearing this hairstyle reminds me of who I was when I was a little girl, carefree and fun. It honestly makes me feel like myself again.
4. Pop music
I’m embarrassed to admit it, but this sunny summer reeled me into the pop music scene yet again. I listened to Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Aly & AJ and Katy Perry while I was in the car, at the gym and at work. It was almost too fun.
The plot thickens.
I’m still not over it. I seriously can’t wait for Aly & AJ’s upcoming EP and new Selena Gomez music.
Seeing my friends Insta pics at museums, with street art and next to their own pieces of artwork inspired me. This summer, I watched “Abstract,” a Netflix docu-series about different types of artists; attended Digital Graffiti, a projection art festival at Alys Beach in May; and I honed my beauty, Photoshop and web design skills. I can’t wait to continue this artistic trend into the fall.
