Recently, I have channeled my love for classic cars, movies and music from decades in the past into my wardrobe. While I have not gone full retro with my closet, I have some coveted pieces that work well with my modern clothes. If you’re looking to incorporate the retro vibe with today’s fashion, it’s as easy as 1-2-3.

1. Staple pieces are your best friend.

Whether it’s a sleek pencil skirt, retro inspired graphic tee or skirt with flair, staple pieces can help build your retro-inspired look. Separates are the easiest and most fun way to incorporate the clothes you already have. T-shirts give your vintage clothes a modern, cool look.

2. Make it pop with accessories

Add a bandana or scarf to your hair or tie it around your neck for some flair. I often enjoy accessorizing with cool-shaped glasses. A classic pair of saddle shoes or sandals can help bring the entire look together, making you look fabulous from head to toe.

3. Have fun with it.

The best thing to remember is to have fun with your look. See what you have in your closet and let your creativity get to work. Mix and match your modern clothes with vintage-inspired pieces for a truly one-of-a-kind ensemble.
