Singer-songwriter Gileah Taylor provided the intro and outro music.

Highlights:

Jennie on her first concert:

“My concert is the best, sorry. My first concert was Spice Girls. This was summer of 1998 … Some of (my mom’s) co-workers were taking their daughters to the Spice Girls concert in Atlanta, and my mom felt really guilty that I wasn’t going. And she was like, ‘We’re going to go.’ She called me one day. I fell off the chair. We were in the nosebleeds section, but it didn’t matter. I was in the same space as the Spice Girls, and this was before Ginger left.”

Lucy on her first concert:

“Four 12-year-old girls. We hit Atlanta. One Direction on tour, floor seats. There were tears. It was a religious experience.”

Savannah on her first concert:

“I like to think of Christian rock as a gateway genre to better music.”

Jennie on the first time she cried about a boy, girl or person:

“Fast forward 10 years later, and he’s dead … I’m just saying, that’s what happens when you make me cry.”

Shelby on the first time she cried about a boy, girl or person:

“I thought I had to do all these things to fit in with them … it was the evil, mean P.E. days of tears.”

Savannah on the first time she cried about a boy, girl or person:

“I’m short and slow. I figured that was why Will chose her over me. Because, boys like athletic girls apparently.”

Jennie on the first article of clothing she saved up for:

“Those shoes saw a lot of really terrible high school bands.”

Shelby on the first article of clothing she saved up for:

“It was a Franco Sarto bag. It was hot pink and it had rainbow straps and all these cool little metal buckles and awesome pockets around it. It was at least 15 or 20 pockets. I was like, ‘I’m gonna blow my money on this.’ I felt like the coolest girl in the whole school.”

Savannah on the first article of clothing she saved up for:

“I feel like that is a really classy article of clothing for me to save up for, for my first time.”

Savannah on the first time she felt proud of herself:

“It takes so much to stick with something you’re bad at. I feel like it’s human nature to only pursue the things you’re already good at.”

Lucy on her first embarrassing moment:

“So I was trying to impress a boy, and I lied. From that day on, I was like, ‘I’m never going to lie about something I like ever again.’ This was mortifying. It was a big deal.”

Shelby on her first embarrassing moment:

“As she’s coming back in the room, she hears me yell, ‘Kick him. Kick him in the privates.’”
